Vascular imaging: from IVUS to 4D and beyond

This PVI 2025 session takes a closer look at how advanced imaging is shaping complex vascular intervention. 

It examines the role of IVUS in aortic repair, including its use during endovascular treatment and IVUS-assisted septotomy for type B aortic dissection, highlighting both its potential benefits and specific procedural risks. 

The session also explores 3D guidance with Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS) and its potential to simplify catheterisation while reducing radiation exposure.

The discussion then turns to aortic endoleak assessment, comparing CTA, colour Doppler ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound, dynamic contrast-enhanced MRA and IVUS, and considering how different modalities can complement one another in complex cases. 

A dedicated presentation explores CTA with 4D reconstruction for more precise endoleak visualisation and characterisation, while the final presentation looks at the modern role of vascular image processing and its contribution to contemporary vascular intervention.
